To explain what an imaginary entity is and why it's important with reference to the encoder decoder model.
An imaginary entity is the person who the magazine of mediation is targeted to. The intended audience. The encoder is the person who makes the original meaning to the text. The encoder will give the intended audience an anchorage, obvious meaning for the text. Whereas, the decoder will take the anchored meaning and takes the message of mediation from the text back. However, the decoder can never know the encoder’s interpretation of the text. It is the way the audience anchor and take the physical meaning. All media texts are Polysemic, therefore the imaginary entity may not take the exact meaning or the obvious meaning. The encoder meaning ourselves, take each mediated text and pursue rather it for the intentional audience.
